So it looks like Dr. Dre is back in the studio, not working on a new album but putting the final touches on Anderson .Paak’s upcoming album. In an Instagram photo posted on Tuesday (July 10), the Aftermath founder has his hands on a massive mixing board alongside engineer Quinten Gilkey. My only question is how Dre found time to mix other peoples album and he still aint finish detox? The photo was shared by Tyhiem Cannon, who is Aftermath Entertainment’s Head of A&R. OnSmash posted a text message exchange between Dre and .Paak confirming the Hip Hop mogul’s role in the album.
“Just finished mixing … shit’s dope,” Dre wrote. “I’m starting … tonight. Here we go!!!” Dre added, “Thank You for letting me just do my thing with your project. I promise I won’t let you down. I’m in it!!!”. The forthcoming project serves as .Paak’s first solo album since 2016’s Malibu. He also released a collaborative project with producer Knxwledge, Yes Lawd!, that same year. In terms of his next effort, the Grammy Award-nominated artist dropped “Bubblin'” and an accompanying video in May.
The album is expected to arrive sometime this year
The first time I heard Anderson was on Kaytranda Glowed Up, I digging his new single bubbling… curious to hear what Dre is going to do with the album.. but what do you guys think? Do You think anyone else could of mixed the album or do you feel like Dr Dre can still work his magic outside of producing the record?
