Fast & Furious is Taking The Marvel Route

So it looks like Universal is taking notes from Marvel and wants to turn fast and the furious into its own shared universe. Producer and Star Vin Diesel has mention that the team behind the franchise is in the early stages of developing prequels and spinoffs. But the focus for now is on getting three more proper sequels out (including Furious 8, to be directed by F. Gary Gray).

Diesel spoke to Variety and said “We’ve written out story lines for various characters,” he said. “We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.” Diesel did not reveal which characters might get spinoffs, although the trade notes that Dwayne Johnson has expressed his desire to see his character, Luke Hobbs, go solo.

I for one has felt the fast and furious became its own marvel series since fast 6 when Vin was flying from cars and grabbing girls in the air! Im excited about this. I remember when the first film was released and how this film became EVERYTHING. Even lead to me writing my first full length screenplay at 13 (The fast and the curious..maybe I should do produce the parody after all this time). I'm not surprised that they're going to whore out the franchise (in an industry where anything new is a financial risk). Im kind of getting bored with the super hero shared universe, its cool to see it done to another franchise....NOW CREATE THE STRAIGHT OUT OF COMPTON SHARED UNIVERSE!!!

It makes sense that they're going to follow the characters and do their own thing since Paul walker has been in (almost) every Fast film compared to the rest so it would be weird to see the whole crew without him the whole time unless it was about them splitting up and having their own adventures. Star Wars is doing the shared universe thing too. I wonder who else is jumping on the bandwagon. Just wait til I release my shared universe!

Now, there's usually some jokes I dont appreciate in Seth Rogens film but 9 of 10 times I see them anyway. He has that average joe quality don't he?
