​Number 5: Dude wheres my car

This 2000 American comedy film stars Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott as two young men who find themselves unable to remember where they parked their vehicle after a night of recklessness. Though the film was panned by most critics, it was a box office success and has managed to achieve a cult status, partially from frequent airings on cable television. The film's title became a minor pop culture saying, and was commonly reworked in various pop cultural contexts during the 2000s.

Number 4: Half Baked

This 1998 American stoner comedy film starred Dave Chappelle ,co-written by Chappelle and Neal Brennan (who was later writer and co-creator of Chappelle's Comedy Central show Chappelle's Show).


Thurgood Jenkins and his friends Brian and Scarface are forced into selling marijuana stolen from the lab where Thurgood works as a "master of the custodial arts". They do this in order to bail their friend Kenny out of jail for $1,000,000 after he accidentally kills Buttercup, a diabetic police horse, by feeding her junk food. Thurgood's personal life is ruined once his adamantly anti-drug girlfriend, Mary Jane Potman, discovers that he is Mr. Nice Guy.

Number 3: Friday

In this 1995 American stoner buddy comedy stars Ice Cube, who co-wrote the film with DJ Pooh and Chris Tucker in his first starring role. The film details roughly 16 hours in the lives of unemployed Craig Jones (Cube) and Smokey (Tucker), who must pay a drug dealer $200 by 10:00 p.m. that night.


The film's success spawned two sequels: Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002). A fourth installment entitled Last Friday has been in the works for several years and has gotten the greenlight as of April 2017, according to John Witherspoon.

Number 2: Harold and kumar

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is a 2004 American stoner comedy film and the first installment of the Harold & Kumar series.


The story follows Harold Lee and Kumar Patel as they decide to go to the fast food chain White Castle after smoking marijuana, but end up on a series of comical misadventures along the way.  In total it had a worldwide gross of $23,936,908.


In 2008 Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay was released and on November 4, 2011, received generally positive reviews from critics and grossed $36 million worldwide.

Number #1: Cheech and Chong

​Up in Smoke is a 1978 comedy and is Cheech & Chong's first feature-length film. Cheech & Chong had been a counterculture comedy team for about ten years before they started reworking some of their material for their first film. Much of the film was shot in Los Angeles, California, including scenes set in Tijuana, while scenes set on the Mexican border were actually filmed at the border in Yuma, Arizona. While negatively received upon its release, Up in Smoke is credited with establishing the stoner comedy genre. The film was a huge success, earning $44,364,244 at the domestic box office, making it the 15th highest-grossing film of 1978.
